Flore.c is a local brand form Puerto Rico. Our mission is to create and provide one of a kind handmade pieces inspired by nature as beautiful and unique as you. Letting you have a piece of nature everywhere you go and empowering you to be the best version of yourself. Every piece is inspired by nature, honoring and respecting our Mother Nature. We are a eco-conscious, zero-waste, sustainable brand with handmade paper and packaging, mailed with biodegradable and recycled mailers.
The creative process
I typically work on small batches and one of a kind pieces. Each of them goes though a long process for 4 stages before having the finished piece.
First, I sustainably and responsibly collect botanicals and flowers. This includes searching around for flowers in my surroundings, growing them, sourcing online, pressing and drying them.
The next step is letting the creative mind flow and designing unique pieces. By choosing metal frames, molds or maybe both and placing carefully the botanicals.
The third step us applying resin. Resin is a two part polymer that hardens into a solid once it’s properly combined. Every piece has anywhere form 2-5 layers if resin on it, and every layer of resin needs a full 12 to 24 hours to cure. To make it even more time consuming, I remove any remaining bubble or particles left in the resin with a toothpick.
The last step is assembling the finished pieces. This includes sanding or removing the excess resin of every pieces, drilling holes, attacking earring hoops, cutting chains and whatever else needs to be finished up. Then, I can take pictures, edit, upload, add descriptions, do the numbers, start the marketing and setting up the shop update.
All of these steps are possible thanks to your wonderful support. I feel very lucky to be able to work with my hands for a living, and so grateful for such an amazing community.
